Our Team went in highly ambitious in 2024 and despite 10 of our 12 members having never played in the WTC before we still achieved a result worthy of the legacy of success that is Team Australia.
With only two losses in the seven round teams event, one to this years champions (Team France) and one from last years champions (Team Poland) the 2024 team proved that Australia has a depth of talented players that only true champions can defeat! Unfortunately our success came to us at a cost, with such a strong performance early in the event Australia was paired into the strongest teams at the event having played against the aforementioned champions as well as the other podium team of 2024 Team Spain! This resulted in us achieving multiple wins, but lower overall battle points than other teams resulting in an overall placing of 11th out of the 40 nations in attendance, a result that we are all exceptionally proud of, especially given the strength of the teams we were honored to play against.
Australia has developed a reputation over the past few years as one of the strongest 40k teams in the world. With multiple top 5 placings, Gold and Bronze medals as well as awards for best sportsmanship Australia has demonstrated time after time that we are not to be underestimated! In 2024 we aim to expand on this legacy of success by putting together a team that exemplifies the highest levels of 40k.
Warhammer 40k is a social game that requires more than talented tacticians with strategic acumen, it also demands the highest levels of sportsmanship, comradery and integrity, all of which are rich within Australian culture.
Team Australia 40k seeks to blend these elements to represent Australia in its truest form on the world stage at the 2024 Warhammer 40k World Team Championships!
